After School Clubs

Here at Manor Park Academy we recognise the importance of Physical Education, healthy eating, sport and healthy competition. To support the children within these areas we offer a range of after school clubs for different year groups.

At the beginning of each term we will send a letter home with your child, to ask if you would like a space for them at one of our after school clubs. You will need to complete the form attached and return it to your child's class teacher. Places are offered on a first come first serve basis as places are limited. We will inform you if your child is offered one of the available spaces. If your child does not receive a space they will be placed on a waiting list for the next available space.

As a school we provide an intensive extra curriculum sports provision. Currently the provisions in place are as follows:

King Edwards School Sport Partnership:

In partnership with King Edwards we provide a full packed year of inclusive fixtures for our learners to take part in. By working with the partnership it allows us to compete in healthy competition with other local primary schools and gain recognition of this with Sport Birmingham leading to awards being won at the end of the academic year. The partnership also offers us the chance to access a wide range f sport specific coaches offering us the chance to further develop community links and adds to our extracurricular provisions. The partnership provides level 2 competitions and if these are won the school gets to move onto level 3 which is regional completions across Birmingham. The competitions aim to provide core values in which the children are awarded for they are: Respect, Determination, Self-Belief, Honesty, Teamwork and Passion.

Other partnerships:

We also have a partnership with PACT who work with Aston Villa to provide a football provision for learners in year 5 and 6. We take part in both leagues (girls and boys) and these fixtures are played on a Friday 3:30 – 5:00pm.

As a school we also have strong links with Sport Birmingham who work in partnership with the Doug Ellis stadium and offer us the chance to take learners to inclusive events which look at sports such as wheelchair football, wheelchair rugby, hockey, inclusive bikes, tennis and much more. We have also attending a variety of inclusive competitions such as athletics, archery, boocia.

Other partnerships we have are with local secondary schools and Birmingham University  who offer local school competitions and the chance to work with PGCE students. We also work in line with SMILE education who provide a football competition in partnership with WBA. In 2019-2020 we created links with Edgbaston Cricket Ground which has seen learners train with national cricket teams and be involved in stadium tours.

COVID-19

Although we have now started to open for certain age groups, the current guidance provided by Government and Public Health England, and the advice to keep children in 'bubbles' for the entirety of the school day, means we are unable to open any of our breakfast clubs or after school clubs at this time. We will inform you as soon as the guidance changes and we are able to reopen these facilities.
